Oh my gosh long time no blog! I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas, and I wish all of you the best life has to offer in 2013.
Sorry I haven't been around to visit (I'm hoping to visit everyone by the end of the weekend), but I had to go back to Ohio unexpectedly to help my dad out after his cardiac bypass surgery.
Anyone else have those relatives that if you weren't related by blood, you would have nothing in common with them and would not even be acquaintances with them? That would be my older brother and me. Polar opposites in every sense of the word. I won't give him any more press, but if y'all have those kind of relatives, I completely empathize with you:)
I did enjoy the time with my dad and his new love. How weird is it that I'm talking about my dad's new woman, and he's almost 73! But I'm very happy for him and glad that he's been blessed with love twice in his lifetime. And his new love is so sweet and nice and caring that it didn't even matter that we are political opposites:)
Oh how I missed Ohio (not)! I did love being back in the state I grew up in, but oh how I did not miss the weather. I had forgotten how many different shades of gray the entire sky could be in one day much less 6 days in a row. I think I saw the sun for an entire 5 minutes and could've sworn I was on the verge of developing seasonal affect disorder. Since I spent the entire time in Columbus at the Ohio State University Medical Center, I definitely got my daily dose of the Ohio State Buckeyes and all of the glorious scarlet and gray attire. I left wondering if anyone wears anything other than scarlet and gray and either white or black with some form of OSU or Buckeyes written on their ass or chest!! Of course I left with my own new wardrobe consisting of the aforementioned apparel.
Anyhoo, I finally got around to putting a card together and actually remembered how to upload and edit the pictures.
I have a couple of birthday coming up in January and February and thought I'd better get cracking on these cards or I would completely forget!
This wonderful stamp is from last year's winter Sugar Nellie release and unfortunately, I can't remember the name of it. I've paired her up with some Echo Park papers. The die cut is from Memory Box called Frosty wreath and the sentiment is from PTI. The flowers are from prima and the white pearls are from my stash and the clear liquid pearls are from Viva Decor.
She's been colored up with copics and I've added some liquid pearls and a bit of stickles in stardust.
Thanks for stopping by today, and I hope everyone has a great weekend and a Happy New Year!
I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
Aud Sentiments: Anything with a sentiment
Charisma Cardz: Anything Goes
Saturated Canary: Picture inspiration

Sounds like a tough week!
Glad you are back but think it is good that you put your feelings aside to be with your Dad when he needed you! You will always have that memory!

Hello Shelby! I hope your dad is recovering well now. I know what you mean about being bonded by blood but nothing else - my older brother and I are exactly the same! And the weather in Ohio sounds just like Britain - miserable, lol!

Hi Shelby, just got your post in my mail. WOW what another great card. I love the colours used, especially the blue hair and I was only eyeing off the memory box die today in my on-line window shopping, if that makes sense. I can relate to you with family. I have three brothers and though I wish them well in life I have nothing to do with them as we are, as you say, polar opposites. They all live in my home state of South Australia and though that is a beautiful state I live in our capital city, Canberra. Over the years it is the family I created that is there for me, which no doubt I'm sure you will relate to. Anyway, love the card how you have jazzed it up. TFS Cheers FiLoMa
Fab card Shelby - the recipient will love it.
